Myself and a few others have made the tough decision of leaving the guild in the past few days. What follows is a message I wrote and they have all agreed to it's contents. Originally I was going to put all their names on it as well as mine, but I think it would be better if they decided to make a short followup to this message in their own words.
Before jumping to any conclusions, please read this entire message:
With a heavy heart we are hereby announcing that we have made the decision to leave the Dark Dragoons. Our decisions based upon this are purely personal (and perhaps selfish) reasons and aren't due to anyone else's actions.
Please try to keep in mind that this is a game (I won't say 'just a game', because if that was the case, I might have a social life outside of it), and the main reason that any of us should be here is to have fun.
We are fast approaching the end-game (level 60) and most of the content that we'll soon be playing requires large groups of high level people to play successfully. We have far outpaced the average leveling rates within the guild and are finding the usefulness of guild chat as a help resource when needed to be poor. That's noone's fault but our own, we chose to level quickly and now we're paying the price.
We sincerely hope that none of you feel abandoned by us, because that's not what we're intending to do. Out of respect for the guild members and remaining officers we're sending this message to help explain why we're doing this.
We hope that you will continue to look to us for help when needed (and appropriate for our levels), and don't hesitate to look us up if you need any work from our professions.
Again, we want to plainly state that whatever reasons people may think we are leaving the guild, we are leaving because we want to focus more on content appropriate to our level, and build up a solid group of players that are also looking to play the high-end content.
We hope you don't look at us departing as an end of the guild (like many did after the last several higher level members quit), because it most certainly isn't. In the past few weeks We've seen a gigantic turnaround in the attitudes regularly displayed in the guild chat. Constant begging for money, and for someone 20 to 30 levels higher to babysit someone through a quest is no longer the norm.
Keep this guild going on the path it is, and group together when level appropriate with others in the guild whenever possible. You'll be greatly rewarded in the long run with already having a close-knit group of players that you can continue to group with, and without having to make a hard decision as the one we've just made.
For the Horde!
