In Warcraft lore, the ultimate Druid physically infuses his animal spirit with his own night elf form to create a mixture of the two, called "Keepers of the Grove". The Keeper of the Grove protected it's wards with thorns, could summon powerful earthen allies, could heal all allies with soothing rains, and could root a target in place, causing massive damage, for a set duration that never wavered.
The Tauren people had a similar tradition, but their race was lead by the Spirit Walkers, the Tauren who where capable of shifting in and out of corpereal forms, able to banish themselves from the mortal plane at will. They had the ability to revive their fallen brethren easily and quickly, and they could link the spirits of targets to share physical damage taken. This is all ignoring the powerful disenchanting abilities they had.
The true mark of a mature Druid was storm crow form, or the ability to shift into the form Medivh the Guardian was famous for using before the Legion's second coming. This form can be used for quick transportation, has a powerful magical attack it can use, and can call down a cyclone a target, freezing it in place, but making it invulnerable, for 30 seconds.
