I just had the pleasure to browse the Warlock forum, and wow do people complain about soulshards alot? can anyone tell me if these complaints are truly legit? heres a few that i found, and my opinions on why they are not really a good complaint. please, id love some feedback! remember, i just hit lvl 24, so i might not have experienced all the "drawbacks yet".. ;D
#1: "they take up to much space!", yes ill admit, this is true, they take up an adequate amount of space in inventory, the only problem that this really causes though is that it takes up to much space when you have a few quest items, or you are trying to collect loot, but when you are delivering quest items, you really dont need a whole lot of soulshards available, unless you are traveling through a dangerous area. then just guage what you need apropprietly. and if your going into an instance for example pack heavy on soulshards, low on items that are unecessary. Then grab soulshards as you go, i sometimes run low on shards, but i never run out. on average right now, i keep a 10slot bag full of shards plus i have a healthstone and soulstone made, and a pet summoned. and i still have a good amount of room. thats for an instance, normal hunting and questing, i might keep between 5-and 8 soulshards around, then a pet, and some rocks. i find that to be plenty, and the only thing i see changing in later lvls is that i will have to gather them more often. so really, whats the big deal?
#2 "why do we need them for pets? hunters dont!" has anyone actually thought about this question? even though hunters pets can get bigger at times, some do more dmg, and can take some more hits, i think warlock pets are more versatile, hunters tend to use the pet that best suits the character, warlocks have pets that adapt to player, situation, and group. plus warlocks dont have to run back to a stable to change pets, wich is even better when you can change pets in a fight! what about sacking a VW for a sheild healing and summoning another pet while invunerable? id say thats pretty good, so I definetly believe pets for warlocks should have a soulshard cost. I dont believe blizzard was "picking on" or nerfing warlocks by doing so, its a system that makes you think about your choices, and strategerize(and yes, strategerize is a word, it has been annexed to the wordicon.. )
#3 "healthstone/soulstones ect. using a shard is a bad idea!". i only got one thing to say, you know they could have just not given us warlocks an instant heal/ressurection. i dunno, i think it might be worth it, some people just tend to look at what they have and see the down side, not what they were GIVEN and accept the drawbacks.
I truly think that if Blizzard decides to nerf the soulshard system due to player complaints that it would almost completly obliterate the concept that is warlock. and getting rid of the soul shard system would then require them to start nerfing abilites of warlocks, wich would of course, as we all know, be bad! I know they're some other issue with soulstones i might not be covering , but all in all its not that bad, sure htey take up some space, and you gotta remember to drainsoul something everyonce iin a while, but really i think people have too much time to whine, if everything went the way some of these player wanted i wouldnt play a warlock because their would be no challenge, and like i said before id like some feedback! i want to know what others think aobut this, these are just my opinions ;D !!
one last thing, the one thing i noticed kinda sucked was when i use a spell that "channels" (i.e rain of fire) it sucks up my manna right away, no matter if the spell was interupted or not? is it like this for everyone who channels spells? its no biggie, just kinda forces me to think harder about when i decide when and where to use certain spells. ..making the game harder/more fun!!
