Ok, I’m not a big fan of the AH. I hate sitting around trying to figure out optimum prices for things to sell and whether I want to chance biding on something with a buy out and risk losing it to someone else. I’d rather be out sucking souls out of Mobs in the few hours that I play. So I’ve found some tips that work, and minimize my time at the AH.
When buying:
I find it not worth the time to haggle on gear (weapons & armor). If it’s on the AH and I want it, I’ll buy it out right (Screw flying back because someone out bid me it’s a waste of time).
If its trade skill mats, this is different. I’ll scroll through and pluck out the obvious deals on the buy it now items. Then I’ll place bids on items that are on short or medium time left. Odds tend to say I get at lest 50% of these when I bid in bulk.
When Selling: (from my perspective as a tailor/skinner)
Most of you will always have one skill that’s a gathering skill. For me I chose skinning, it’s easy and I get a ton of leather quick (I just vender scraps since I can’t upgrade it). Other then that; find out the average buyout price for the different level items and record them on a sticky for quick reference (saves time in future). Now being logical you will place it on AH for just below the norm, you’ll find the items should always sell (there are always penny pinchers looking for a better deal). Even more importantly remember to raze your minim bid to 50% to 75% of your buyout price; just in case people do bid instead (a lot of people forget this, and then ask for outrages prices on buyout, so you can pick it up real cheep if you bid).
Next is the real money maker for me, selling primary crafting skill items. You want to make items that require unique items since people don’t like searching for them. Then check availability of items on AH. For me it’s the enchanter’s cowl, it required thick spiders silk to make. Found I could by a stack of ten frequently under 1g on the AH., so it was cheep to make. Then because it’s level 28 and green it’s one of the first magical cloth caps casters can get, I get usually a 2g return when I sell it.
Also remember to never flood the market with your items. Always sell in 2 to 3 so it looks like there will not be a lot, to increases demand. Then just put more up after they sell.
Because if this style I’m hardly in AH more then once a day. This isn’t a get rich quick scheme, but it gives me a steady cash flow that allows me to afford almost anything I want when I want it. Minus blue items (people are crazy on this server on blue item prices); if you get a blue BOE equip item, don’t use, sell, lower the level the better from what I’ve seen. That’s payday right there for you.
When Trade skill level grinding:
When grinding crafting items to level skill, make one of each easy item, and then check prices with vender to see which one sells the best. Quite frequently I’ll find; say gloves that use less material but sell to vender for 3 times what the material cost to make. So after making 10 of them I’ll see a noticeable increase in my funds.
There you’ve received my pearls of wisdom. Please if anyone else has good ways of making money with out having to spend a lot of time it the big cities let me know.
