Arcatraz 70+, 5 man instance in Netherstorm
This is one of several instances in Outland that doesn’t require an attunement per se, but helps to have. 1 person needs to have the Key to Arcatraz in order to enter the instance, but that person can let everyone else in. Or you can just wait for someone outside the party to open the door and run in. You DO need a flying mount to get to the Arcatraz entrance though, so you must be 70+ to run it because warlock summoning doesn’t work in Netherstorm.
To get the key and let yourself in there is a lengthy quest chain which starts in Netherstorm.
1) You actually get the quest to talk to the quest giver from an Aldor or Scryer guy on their tiers depending on which faction you’ve selected. The quest is called Assisting the Consortium and asks you to go speak with Nether-Stalker Khay’ji in Area 52 in Netherstorm.
2) The Nether-Stalker asks you to get an Arklon Crystal Artifact from Pentatharon to the SE of Area 52. Fairly straightforward smash and grab quest.
3) He next asks you to collect 10 Zaxxis Insignias from the Zaxxis who are near the Heap to the south of Area 52. This is a good quest to get to in the chain even if you’re not interested in the key, because it’s repeatable for Consortium rep.
4) After killing the minions, you have to kill their leader. Warp-Raider Nesaad is in the SW corner of the Heap, and you have to kill him. You probably saw him if not already killed him while collecting the Insignias, so this should be easy too.
5) Now you head elsewhere. Find Gahruj in the Eco-Dome Midrealm at Midrealm Post. The nice thing about Netherstorm is you can follow the road virtually everywhere you need to go. It’s east across the bridge from Area 52, and inside the next bubble you’ll come to.
6) Now you go farther east to Manaforge Duro and collect 10 boxes of Surveying Equipment. They’re all over the place, and the nice thing about the Manaforge is the mobs are fighting other mobs constantly, so if you’re clever you can actually collect the boxes without fighting too many mobs, if that’s your goal.
7) Once you have the equipment you take it to Stormspire to the Image of Nexus-Prince Haramad. There is a FP in Stormspire that is worth picking up as there are other quests here as well as the Consortium QM for rep rewards.
8) Next, you are given a Triangulation Device, and have to find a few points on the map. This is very easy when you have a flying mount, but of course is possible before then. The coordinates of the first location are roughly 66, 33. You will see a hunters mark graphic pointing at the ground, and just have to get close enough to register it. Turn it in to Dealer Hazzin.
9) Then you have to find a second point, which is at 28, 41. Turn in to Wind Trader Tuluman.
10) Now you have to recover the crystal now that you found it. You have to kill Culuthas, a level 69 elite demon in the Ruins of Farahlon. Then just go turn it in to the Image of Nexus-Prince Haramad.
11) Now just take the Crystal to A’dai in Shattrath City. He’s the big talking glyph in the dead center. At this point you get a trendy rare quest reward in addition to gold and xp!
12) Lastly, you get How to Break into Arcatraz. You have to collect the two halves of the Arcatraz hey from the final bosses of the Botanica and the Mechanar. These are normal runs that can be done by 5 level 70 gneeric groups of the composition tank, healer, 3 dps.
13) Bring back the two halves to A’dai, and you will get the Key to Arcatraz as well as another rare quest reward. You can also pick up the Harbinger of Doom quest, which asks that you go into Arcatraz and kill the final boss, but that’s not strictly necessary since you already have the key.
