EQ Champions is way better than Baldur's Gate 2... and EQ Champions:Return to Arms will be even better!

LOL, geat games all.
But you fail to account for FFVII. It was so good, it was ported over to the PC, not the other way around (which was rare in 97-98). I was so enamored watching friends play the game, I finally broke down and bought my first Play Station just so I could play it.

FFVII was the very first game I bought for Playstation, and was the reason I bought the console. I would say it's one of the best, if not the best, single player RPG that I have ever played.
Other close #1's would be:
FFVIII: - (PS1) ES3: Morrowind - (Xbox) Crystalis - (NES) LOS: Ocarina of Time - (N64) Diablo 2 - (PC)

FFVII = the best single RPG for PS1. On top of thet I basicly like everything that Xerseas said. Those are the best games for all those systems.
But he forgot Atari - Bubble Bobble. :-D

Well if you want to get off topic, Bubble Bobble was fun. Used to play that at the hotsprings in Whitehorse, YT, Canada.
Other great classics are: Q-Bert Tubing Mable Madness
Also, On subject, classic PC RPGs that I find way better then Balders Gate series, are the old Goldbox AD&D games.
Gateway to the Savage Fronter Treasures of the Savage Fronter Pools of Radiance Pools of Darkness Hillsfar Eye of the Beholder 1,2,&3 Secret of the Silver Blade
These were the true D&D games. Combat was turn based, which gave the layed back feel of pen and paper. Unlike BG where every thing happend at once, and time was ether on or off. I found that style of game play more fustrating, and removed the feel of initiative based combat.
