The following is the list of things discussed at the guild meeting for those who need a reference or missed it.
Basic guild information
Welcome all the new faces to Dragoon Knights. We hold guild meetings every month or so, or special sessions if something important comes up. I know a lot of this might be repeat, but for the sake of consistency and so you can’t say “I never knew that”, I’m going to go over the basic rules, and if you want to bow out because this guild isn’t for you, we’ll be sorry to see you go, but understand.
Be friendly, especially to each other, but to the general populace as well. We all find groups with jerks in them, and complain in gchat, but don’t go out of your way to be a thingy. I’m not asking you to get along with everyone because that’s impossible, but if you have a problem with someone, don’t just yell at them constantly.
Try to help each other out. If you’re bored, or in the same zone as someone else in the guild anyway, group up and help out. It’ll make things go faster, and you’ll get to know each other a little better.
Now, along those lines, DO NOT BEG. This goes for things like “Can I have some money”, “Can the guild bank give me money, I’ll pay it back”, and “Can someone run me through VC/any instance”. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask at all, just don’t ask 12 times. It makes you look incapable of playing on your own, and gets on people’s nerves. Most of the time a lot of higher ups in the guild, myself included, volunteer to do lowbie runs, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble convincing someone to help you out. Just don’t overdo it.
We have a guild alliance with the United Guilds of Azeroth. It’s a network of about 6 other smaller guilds that don’t necessarily have the manpower to do what they want all the time, so we banded together and get groups going for instances, quests, and general information. We have a joint guild channel “ugoa”, so hit /join ugoa to get in on it. It’s a wonderful resource for high and low players.
We are not a hardcore raiding guild. This does not mean we don’t raid. My personal goal is to get a Dragoon Knight raid of Karazhan to become a reality. We do fun runs of UBRS and LBRS 10 man, and with our guild alliance ugoa have put together raids of AQ20, ZG, and MC. But, as mentioned, it’s not our primary goal, we just like to play in shorter bursts. But, see Karazhan topic.
Promotions WERE given out based on guild activity: attend meetings, lead runs, stay in the guild, generally be useful. They WERE handed out exclusively at guild meetings which encouraged attendance. I admit, I’ve made a totally dictatorial decision in changing that. Promotions will still be given to the deserving, but will be dynamic, and can be awarded at any time. They are also not dependent on toon level. I don’t think people should be penalized for missing meetings if real life intervenes, and people shouldn’t have to wait upwards of several weeks to a month for a promotion if they deserve it right now. That said, promotions will not be handed out just for the heck of it, and CERTAINLY won’t be given out if you ask for one.
Recruitment
I want to put recruitment on hold for the time being. We’ve had a lot of new members join recently, and I want to get to know them. I’m not revoking invite privileges, but I ask that you refrain from invites unless we get an epic geared 70 who wants to help us out, at least until we get comfortable with our newest “pledge class”
The Guild Bank
Pledges have no withdrawals because we’ve had thieves, but can deposit and view everything
If pledges need an item, they should ask any other rank to get it out for them.
Money cannot be withdrawn by any but me; we had money issues as well. Money will be reserved for mounts and other expensive items worth funding, like high level enchants, craftable items, etc.
This in turn relies on donations from players, which is difficult to fathom I know, but it’s a harder sell to ask for 90g for a mount if you’ve never put anything in the guild bank yourself. Just something to think about .

Post stuff: I can’t claim to know everything, so if you have strategies or wisdom to impart because you know a lot about a certain class, quest, or instance, please do. And feel free to post questions too: the old “if you have a question, someone else probably does too” is true in WoW as well because we all do the same quests at some point .
Karazhan
My pet project is to see a DK exclusive run in Karazhan. We are getting closer, and only need a few more attuned 70s to do it, and then just figure out a time.
The beauty of Karazhan is that it doesn’t have to be a 5 hour run. We can down one boss at a time in the same amount of time or less that it takes to run a high level instance. Instead of beating our heads against the wall, we’ll just try to take one or two at a time until we can get people Kara gear and do the bosses easily, then move on. It will be slow, but we all know we’re not a hardcore raiding guild.
Thalderan is keeping a list of our 70s and where they are in the attunement chain, so if you haven't already talked to him, do so. That way we know what characters and classes we have to work with in forming a run.
Arenas
We are getting more and more 70s. If you are interested in epics that require very little effort to get, and can be online for about an hour once a week with your team, ask me or another 70 about getting a 5v5 team together. You simply have to play 10 games a week total, and each member has to play at least 30% of the games, and you’ll get points. You get points even if you lose every game, so getting the gear is just another grind. But for an hour a week, guaranteed epics aren’t too bad.
Now, because I get to run things here, I get to do a few personal plugs of things, and anyone can chime in if they like.
Mods are by no means required. I used to think they were stupid and cluttered up the system, especially since you have to reinstall new versions every time there is a patch. But now I know better. There are some basic ones you should look for both for guild unity and increased utility. One is a coordinate system. If you have a question as to where someone or something is, any wow website will give you the coordinates of that item, which are useless if you don't have coordinates on your world map. Many mods do this, but the easiest one to find is CTMod, available at ctmod.net As a bonus, it’s used by so many people that it’s updated within the same day a patch comes out, so you shouldn’t have any trouble keeping it working.
Atlas and AtlasLoot are also useful mods: they let you see maps of the insides of instances, as well as the loot that drops off each boss. Useful so you can tell which instances have loot you want, and where the bosses are inside each instance so you can get to them as quickly as possible. Not as essential because as long as someone in the group has it, they can tell you where to go. But independence is nice too.
Group Calendar is a useful communication tool. The UGoA uses GC to schedule instance runs and post information about interguild meetings. Anyone can post items, so if you have the mod you’ll be able to schedule runs and have people sign up. Again, not essential, but a nice tool to facilitate communication when you can’t talk to someone directly.
And last, one that I think IS essential if you want to run instances or raids seriously. KTM Threat Meter. Damage and healing meters are all fine and good how useless the rest of the group was compared to you But a threat meter tells you how much threat each person in the group is generating through healing, damage dealing, and other abilities. This enables the tank to keep aggro, and dps classes to deal maximum damage without fear of taking aggro from the tank. However, it only displays players on the table who have KTM installed, so if only one or two players have it, it’s not all that useful. So of all the mods I’ve recommended I’d say coordinates and the threat meter are as close to required as you can get. On an aside, a real raiding guild won’t let you come unless you have a threat meter installed.
