Ok here is MY protection spec. I am trying to the the best tank I can. You do not have to follow this.. But if you love to hear people say how great of a warrior you are.. This is the way to go. Have you tried to solo much are pvp at all with this setup? I've been thinking a bit about respecing and spending some in prot. but from everything I read on all sorts of forums (mostly the blizzard forums though) is that while a prot setup like this will definately make you like 5% better at tanking, it'll make you 20-40% suckier at PvP and soloing (ability to take down anyone, especially in a situation with more than 1 PC/NPC hitting on you). I'd love to be a super meat shield, but with the numbers on the horde side and the lack of trust I put in pick up groups, running instances just doesn't happen enough to justify the loss. Unrelated note: On my last pickup group I was involved in, a fellow tauren warrior begged at 5:30 am on the weekend that I help him get the shield from Tinkerer in Mauradon for him. Sure, no problem. Also invite someone else that I know is looking for a specific item in there and let everyone in the group know what he's after. We show up, and not only are they looking to run after the shield, they have *several* unfinished quests that they're attempting to do. After perhaps an hour of them trying to complete those quests we start to make our way towards the princess area for the drops. While we're doing it, the person who wants the shield keeps running off and hitting other mobs that aren't in our way 'b-cuz I need the XP'. Nice, but this is a group. We don't need the XP (hell, we barely even GET xp on those mobs at our level) and it's now 7 am and I want to go to bed. I'm getting a little pissy at this point and start getting a little more demanding. 'It's late, I need to go to bed. If you want the drop, follow me.' He continues to engage mobs that we don't need, taking the long route instead of dropping down so he can get the XP... also keep in mind that he's totally not built for tanking other than the fact that he's a warrior class. Hell, he has less HP than the rogue in the party. He engages another mob that we don't need, a few add, we wipe and I clearly state that I'm HSing after I recover my corpse and so is the rogue I brought along with me due to the time. He literally started begging repeatedly 'but just that 1 mob, we were almost right there!' "yeah man, we were almost right there an hour ago and could've been done an hour ago. I need sleep. I know you don't have the quest item to help you teleport yourself back to the area, so I'll open a portal for you. After that, I'm stoning out and logging off. The night ended with me putting him on ignore shortly before signing off. Now the worst part of all of this that the shield is basically useless for a warrior. Almost *completely* useless. The only useful part of the shield for a warrior is it's looks. It's one of the spinning goblin shields. www.thottbot.com/?i=19976I mean, the best stat on it is that it restores 4 MANA every 5 seconds. Now, I don't even know why I ranted on about it, my fault for going with a pickup group.. but I sure do feel better now that I've complained to a group of people instead of one at a time. ; )

This spec is NOT for PVP or PVE it is for being the best instance tank you can be. It makes you about a 20-30% better tank and about 15-25% slower at killing. And if you get an add.. OMG i kill FASTER!!.
ALL the extra rage i get from that add helps me kill faster then i ever would just killing the one. And having ALL the block/dodge/parry i have its hard to do any real damage to me.
The only thing i dont like to get is a few casters on me. Armor does nothing to caster spell damage.
This build is for the best TANK build. Not the best PVE build or PVP.
I talk to a level 51 warrior today about Defense. I the he was freaked out how much i know about the stats and everything in this game. Most people dont seem to get that Defense raises your block/dodge/parry and lowers chance for a mob to get a crit.
Defense does almost NOTHING in PVP. Anyways if you have any more Qs ill be more then happy to answer.
