There are an almost limitless number of warcract websites out there, with information ranging from people complaing about how unbalanced the game is, to the minutia of game mechanics, to highly useful, straightforward, and relevant information on quests, instances, bosses, and loot. A few of the most useful and highly visited ones are below. This is just a starting point, again, feel free to post other sites you've found that are helpful in some regard.
These also do not include any "official" Blizzard WoW sites, as I'm sure you can find those on your own.
Mod sites
wow.curse-gaming.com - major mod site, searchable database, organized by category, with links to how each mod works and looks in game, so you can preview before you download.
www.ctmod.net - always has the most updated CTMod, so if you can't find it elsewhere, check here.
wowui.incgamers.com - has class specific mod categories as well as a huge database of general ones.
Quest information
wow.allakhazam.com - My personal favorite for quests, items, mobs, and locations. Easier to read than Thottbott, with less outdated information.
www.thottbott.com - Another comprehensive site for quest info, item info, and "where to find X" statistics.
www.wowhead.com - useful searchable database of items, quests, drop rates, disenchanting information. Also contains a talent calculator as noted below.
www.wowwiki.com - The wikipedia devoted to WoW. They have forums for perusal on a variety of subjects, as well as quest and item info, but the most important tool is instance guides, boss info as far as what specific abilities they posses, and one or more strategies on how to beat any given boss. Extremely detailed, and a high level player's dream come true.
Class loot/build information
www.wow-loot.com - has tables of drops for all bosses in every instance. You can select your class and it will display a "suggested gear progression" for every instance in the game. Or, you can simply look at bosses in each instance and it will tell you what it drops and what classes the site recommends take each piece. Useful to see what instances you should run, and what bosses drop what you need. Also has links to several builds of each class (generally one for each tree, though also several hybrids) as well as wowhead's talent calculator so you can experiment yourself.
www.wowhead.com - Primarily useful for the talent calculator so you can do fake builds without it costing you gold. Has other functions as noted above.
